Turn your dog love up to 11 by attending the February 11, 2012, PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap canine programs benefit screening of “Best in Show,” written and directed by “This Is Spinal Tap” star Christopher Guest. If you haven’t seen “Best in Show,” or it’s been a while, this popular cult parody of dog-show culture features uberfunny “Glee” star Jane Lynch and an ensemble cast that includes Parker Posey and Fred Willard.
Bainbridge Cinemas (403 Madison Avenue North) is sponsoring and hosting the fundraiser. The film starts Saturday morning at 11 a.m., with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. PAWS encourages attendees to come early to get complimentary popcorn and soft drinks, enter a raffle, try to win door prizes, and mingle with other dog lovers.
No reservations are required, and anyone is welcome to attend. The suggested donation is $20. Dogs will not be admitted, but moviegoers are welcome to bring photos of their pooches to share with fellow dog lovers.
“This is a great way to help out local dogs and their families at the same time,” said Mindy Anderson, President of the PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap board of directors. Proceeds will help the organization’s local spay/neuter/vaccine fund for low-income pet owners, as well as several other dog-oriented programs.
“This private screening party is also a great preValentine’s day treat for dog-loving couples,” Anderson said. Cash or checks are preferred, but credit cards will be accepted.
