New Panera Bread in Silverdale Offers Something Good to Chew on

With the opening of “upscale casual” eatery Panera Bread, Silverdale is giving us another reason to cross the bridge, or at least a palatable, healthy eating stop amid the area’s plethora of fast food franchises. Named Casual Dining Brand of the Year in the 2012 Harris Poll, Panera Bread is indeed also a chain, but if you’ve sampled their made-to-order sandwiches and salads, as well as tasty soups and desserts, you wouldn’t necessarily know it, except by their serving efficiency.

Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Panera’s popularity in recent years is rather staggering, with 1,625 locations across 44 states and Ontario popping up like freshly baked loaves since 1981. Being rather new to Panera, having discovered them a few years ago on a trip to the Midwest, perhaps I still have the Panera glow, but I for one am pleased to have them over in our neck of the woods.

Panera Bread Silverdale had its “soft” opening on December 26 and is holding its official grand opening this Tuesday, January 8 at 8 a.m. It is located at the corner of Kitsap Mall Boulevard and Silverdale Way.

Remember the small mall on Silverdale Way that burned down one year ago to the day on January 8, 2012? Started at Desert Sun Tanning, the fire spread quickly and destroyed Forza Coffee and several other businesses. Panera Bread is now occupying a large portion of that space with its newly constructed building.

Interesting. We enjoyed them in Minnesota. I recall them as too pricey for me. I would usually just get a couple bagels. Nice atmosphere to hang out in sometimes.

Great products, but I agree with comment, a bit too pricey indeed.
