Enter the Bainbridge Reusable Bag Design Competition: It’s in the Bag!

Our plastic bag ban ordinance kicks in November 1, 2012, prohibiting plastic bags less than 2.5 millimeters in thickness in Bainbridge businesses at check out or point of sale. As a way to prepare our fair community for our plastic bag ban, the City is holding a design competition for “The Bainbridge Bag” and then giving away 500 resuable bags sporting the winning design.

Citizens are invited to enter their designs for the reusable Bainbridge bag. Here are the design guidelines:

  • It must be original.
  • It must be specific to Bainbridge Island.
  • It must be no larger than 5 inches wide by 8 inches tall.
  • It can be multicolored.
  • It must be submitted by 4 p.m., Friday, September 28.

Design entries will be posted in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 280 Madison Avenue North. Community members are invited to vote at City Hall October 1-12 to determine the favorite.

For more information, go to the City’s website or contact Code Enforcement at 206-780-3769.
