Congratulations to Robin Nigash, who correctly identified this one-of-a-kind mailbox on West Port Madison on the right side of the road coming from Highway 305. She told us the maker is long-time Islander and owner of Modern Collision Rebuild. Robin won two movie tickets, two popcorns, and two drinks at Bainbridge Cinemas. Have fun Robin, and thanks for playing Name That Mailbox!

And thank you to Bainbridge Cinemas for generously donating this great prize!

Movie goers please note that we now have showtimes for Bainbridge Cinemas and Lynwood Theater in the lower right column of our Home page.

We’ve moved on briskly to the second mailbox in our wildly popular new series Name That Mailbox. This Bainbridge Island classic looks like it has been around a while. It’s a bit off the beaten path but hard to forget once you’ve seen it. We’d love to know the history. The first person to correctly identify the location of this mailbox will win two general admission tickets to Bainbridge Cinemas along with two popcorns and two drinks, good for any showing. Good luck!

It's on West Port Madison off 305 — Long time island family — owners of Modern Collision Auto Repair. The patriarch now makes cool things out of rusty metal and sells them at the Farmers' Market – many can be seen at Flowering Around.

Congratulations Robin! You’ve won two tickets, popcorn, and drinks at your choice of movie at Bainbridge Cinemas. Thanks for sharing the information about this cool mailbox. We enjoyed the background story. It’s worth a look for those Islanders who don’t get over to that nice neighborhood. Have fun at the movie, and thanks for playing Name That Mailbox!

This is the coolest mailbox(es) I know of on the island! – Even though I'm not that into cars these days.

  3. Shannin Strom -Henry says:

My dad made this mailbox for all our family mailboxes. My grandparents moved to the island in the mid 40's and had three sons. they sold 5 acres to each son and so we grew up right next to my grandparents and my 2 uncles. About 6 years ago my husband and I bought half of my grandfathers property and my little bother and his family have the other half. Right now there are 3 generations of Stroms and 5 families of Stroms on the original 20 acres. this mailbox is the hub for 4 of those families. We are now remodeling the original farmhouse built in the 1920's and will be living it it with our daughter, Zoe, who will be the 4th generation of Stroms to live on the property.
