A recent addition to the Bainbridge Island Park District, this .9-mile wooded trail connects the Grand Forest trail network off of Miller Road with popular Battle Point Park, which features a 1.5-mile loop path around ball fields, a play park, tennis courts, an observatory, and a large duck pond. Built in 2007 to enhance connectivity within the park system, the Forest to Sky Trail offers the opportunity to tailor your walk to different lengths and environments by hooking up with adjoining parks. This shady and at times hilly hike includes a 100-foot boardwalk that crosses a wetland populated with giant skunk cabbage. Some younger members of the Island say there are friendly fairies in these woods and quarrelsome goblins under the boardwalk. Although it is new to the park system, The Forest to Sky Trail has become a popular walk for locals, as well as visitors to both the Grand Forest and Battle Point Park.
Trailheads: across Miller Road from the Grand Forest West Trailhead; a short trek from the southeast corner of Battle Point Park (through the fence). Turn right out of the trail to find Battle Point Park.
